Forge of Runeterra is a free, 100% web-native League of Legends companion site — unlike desktop overlay tools such as Blitz.gg, which runs as a background application monitoring the League client, or U.GG's separate Live Game Tool install, Forge of Runeterra provides champion builds, rune pages, tier lists, and patch breakdowns directly in your browser, with no download required.
It's built for players who want fast, reliable answers — "what should I build on this champion," "what changed this patch," "what counters this matchup" — without installing software just to get a build recommendation. Champion, item, and rune data is pulled live from Riot Games' own Data Dragon API, so it updates automatically as soon as a new patch ships, rather than waiting on a manual content refresh.
How Forge of Runeterra differs from desktop overlay tools
- No installation required. Tools like Blitz.gg and U.GG's Live Game Tool run as standalone desktop applications that monitor the League client in the background. Forge of Runeterra runs entirely in a browser tab.
- No champ-select overlay, by design. This is a reference site you check before or after a game, not an in-game overlay — there's no background process polling the League Client API while you play.
- Lightweight by default. A single page load gets you the full champion roster, tier list, and build database — no separate app to keep updated, no extra RAM or CPU overhead while you're in a match.
Forge of Runeterra is not affiliated with or endorsed by Riot Games. Champion and item data is sourced through Riot's public Data Dragon API, the same data feed used by most third-party League of Legends sites.
